Membership Rules
Our goal is simple: keep bikes safe, available, and fun for every young rider.
Membership Rules & Policies
The JCBC Kids Ride Club is designed to make biking simple and fun for neighborhood families while ensuring bikes remain available and well maintained for all members.
Membership Overview
Membership includes 4 rides per month for one rider within the selected rider category.
Membership provides access to a properly sized bicycle from our kids fleet. Specific bike models are not guaranteed, but we will always provide an appropriate bike for your child’s rider level.
Reservations
All rides must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance.
Reservations allow our team to prepare the correct bike size and ensure availability for all members.
Pickup & Return
Members may keep the bike until the end of the following business day after pickup.
Example:
Pickup Saturday → Return Sunday before closing.
Bikes must be returned to The Jersey City Bicycle Company during normal business hours.
Ride Extensions
If additional time is needed, members may extend their ride for the day for $49, when availability allows.
Extensions must be approved by shop staff.
Late Returns
Late returns incur an automatic $25 late fee.
This helps ensure bikes remain available for other members.
Safety Equipment
Helmets are included and strongly recommended for all riders.
Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring their child rides safely and follows local bicycle laws.
Damage & Responsibility
Members are responsible for the bike while it is checked out.
Normal wear and tear is expected, but riders may be responsible for repair or replacement costs in cases of:
• loss
• theft
• significant damage caused by misuse
Waiver Requirement
All riders must complete the JCBC Rental and Liability Waiver before their first ride.
A parent or legal guardian must sign the waiver for riders under 18.
Missed Rides
Membership includes 4 rides per month.
Unused rides do not roll over to the following month.
Membership Changes
The Jersey City Bicycle Company reserves the right to adjust program details or policies as needed to maintain safety, availability, and service quality.
Members will be notified of any significant updates.

The Kids Ride Club exists to help children experience the joy of biking in a safe, accessible, and fun way.
We’re proud to support young riders and neighborhood families throughout Jersey City.
Weather Policy
The JCBC Kids Ride Club operates rain or shine.
If severe weather is expected (heavy rain, thunderstorms, unsafe riding conditions), members may reschedule their ride when availability allows.
Because bikes are reserved in advance and held for members, missed reservations due to weather do not automatically roll over. Our team will always do our best to accommodate rescheduling when possible.
Lost or Stolen Bikes
Members are responsible for the bicycle while it is checked out.
If a bike is lost or stolen, the member is responsible for the cost of replacement.
To help prevent theft, we recommend:
• using a bike lock whenever the bike is unattended
• keeping bikes within sight when possible
• returning bikes promptly after riding
If a theft occurs, please notify The Jersey City Bicycle Company immediately and file a police report.
Locks are available upon request.
