Service Guarantee, Warranty &; Return Policy
Our Service Guarantee
At The Jersey City Bicycle Company, we stand behind the quality of our workmanship. If you believe something related to the service we performed isn't functioning as intended, please contact us as soon as possible.
As a courtesy, we offer complimentary minor adjustments within 72 hours of pickup for the original service performed. These adjustments are intended to address normal settling after service, including cable stretch, brake or derailleur fine-tuning, and bolt re-torque when related to the original repair.
This courtesy adjustment does not cover:
- Flat tires or punctures
- Additional repairs or replacement parts
- Normal wear and tear
- Crash, impact, misuse, neglect, or improper storage
- Damage caused after the bicycle leaves our shop
- Customer-supplied parts or accessories
- Mechanical issues unrelated to the original service
Once your bicycle has been picked up, the original service order is considered complete. Any new concerns arising after pickup will be evaluated independently and may require additional labor, parts, or a diagnostic inspection. This does not affect your eligibility for our complimentary 72-hour adjustment period for the original work performed.
Additional Repairs
While servicing your bicycle, our technicians may discover worn, damaged, or unsafe components that were not visible during the initial inspection.
If additional repairs or replacement parts are recommended, we will always contact you for approval before proceeding. No additional billable work will be completed without your authorization.
Please note that adjustments alone cannot restore components that are excessively worn, bent, cracked, corroded, stripped, or otherwise damaged. In these situations, replacement may be necessary to safely complete the repair.
Customer-Supplied & Outside Parts
To protect our technicians' time and ensure every repair receives the attention it deserves, customer-supplied or third-party parts are subject to an additional handling and installation fee starting at $25 per item.
Outside parts often require additional time to verify compatibility, inspect for defects, and adapt during installation.
Please note:
- Customer-supplied parts must be compatible with your bicycle.
- We do not warranty customer-supplied components.
- We are not responsible for manufacturing defects, compatibility issues, or premature failure of outside parts.
- Additional labor charges may apply if outside parts require extra installation time or troubleshooting.
Whenever possible, we recommend purchasing parts directly through The Jersey City Bicycle Company. This allows us to guarantee compatibility, stand behind the products we install, and provide the fastest turnaround.
Flat Tire Repair Disclaimer
A flat tire repair addresses only the puncture or damaged tube, tire, valve, or tubeless setup present at the time of service.
Although we inspect the tire, wheel, rim tape, valve, and surrounding components during the repair, we cannot guarantee against future punctures, air loss, or flats after the bicycle leaves our shop.
Future flats may occur due to:
- Road debris
- Glass, thorns, nails, or other hazards
- Pinch flats
- Improper tire pressure
- Worn tires
- Damaged rims
- Defective rim tape
- Normal riding conditions
- Other factors beyond our control
If we determine that a tire or related component is unsafe or excessively worn, we'll recommend replacement before completing the repair. Declining a recommended replacement may increase the likelihood of future flats.
By authorizing a flat repair, the customer acknowledges that flat tire repairs are not warrantied against future punctures or air loss.
Used Bicycle Disclaimer
Every bicycle arrives in a different condition. While our inspections are thorough, a tune-up or safety inspection does not certify that a used bicycle is free from hidden defects or guarantee the future condition of every component.
Certain issues may only become apparent after continued riding or further disassembly.
Safety Policy
Safety is our highest priority.
We reserve the right to recommend additional repairs when we believe a bicycle contains worn or damaged components that could affect safe operation.
In rare circumstances, we may decline a requested repair if completing only part of the work would leave the bicycle in an unsafe condition or create a safety risk for the rider.
Storage Policy
Completed bicycles should be picked up promptly.
Please refer to our Storage Policy for information regarding pickup timeframes, storage fees, and abandoned bicycles.
Returns & Refunds
All bicycle sales, special orders, custom builds, service labor, and installed parts are final sale.
Because bicycle repairs involve labor that cannot be returned once completed:
- Service labor is non-refundable once completed.
- Bicycle sales are final.
- Installed parts are non-refundable once installed.
- Special orders and custom-built bicycles are final sale.
- Rentals, lessons, workshops, and events are non-refundable and must be used within 12 months of purchase unless otherwise stated.
In limited circumstances, store credit may be offered at our sole discretion. Approved exceptions may be subject to a restocking fee and must be returned in new, unused condition with original packaging.
