As a growing, high-volume repair shop, especially during peak season, space is limited and every inch counts. This policy helps us deliver top-tier service to all riders by keeping our shop running efficiently.

Here's how it works:

1. Notification of Completion
You’ll receive a text or call when your bike is ready for pick-up.

2. 72-Hour Pick-Up Window
We ask that all completed service bikes be picked up within 72 hours (3 days) of notification.

3. Automatic Storage Fees
If your bike is not picked up within 72 hours:
A $25 storage fee will be automatically applied.
An additional $25 fee will be added every 7 days the bike remains in our shop.

4. 30-Day Abandonment Policy
Bikes left for 30 days or more will be considered abandoned and become the property of The Jersey City Bicycle Co. We reserve the right to donate, recycle, or resell the bike to recover space and costs, without further notice.

5. Need More Time?
We get it—life happens. Just give us a call or email in advance to make arrangements. We're happy to work with you.

Thank you for understanding and respecting our space and our staff. Your cooperation allows us to keep bikes moving and deliver the best possible service to our cycling community.

Frequently asked questions

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

Building a custom bicycle is a detailed process that typically takes 6 to 12 weeks from start to finish. Once your frame and components are sourced and assembled in our workshop, we’ll schedule your initial fit session to dial in positioning and fine-tune performance.

From there, we assess what refinements are needed to ensure the bike rides exactly as intended—before delivering the finished build.

If you're planning a custom bike as a gift or for a special occasion, we strongly recommend booking well in advance to allow enough time for sourcing, fabrication, and adjustments.

HOW MUCH DOES A BESPOKE BIKE COST?

Final pricing depends on several key factors: the complexity of the build (commuter, road, touring, cargo, etc.), the components and materials selected, and the level of customization involved. Because each build is unique, exact pricing is provided during an in-person consultation—where we walk you through options, fit considerations, and performance goals.

Our mission has always been to make high-quality, custom bicycles more accessible. That philosophy is reflected in our pricing and the transparent, rider-first process we follow every step of the way.

CAN I BRING MY OWN PARTS?

At Jersey City Bicycle Co., quality is our highest priority. That’s why we source components from trusted brands and manufacturers we know will deliver long-term performance and safety.

In most cases, we do not accept outside parts for custom builds—but we’re always open to discussion. Exceptions can be made if the parts meet our technical standards and are appropriate for the intended build. We’ll evaluate each request carefully during your consultation to ensure everything works together seamlessly.

Our goal is to build bikes that ride beautifully and last for years—and that starts with the right foundation.

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN MY BESPOKE EXPERIENCE?

Every custom build at Jersey City Bicycle Co. begins with a personalized consultation and initial bike fitting, where we take your measurements, riding preferences, and style into account.

Once your build is complete, we schedule a final fit session to make sure everything feels right on the road. If any adjustments are needed, we take care of them before delivery to ensure a perfect fit and ride.

We also offer one complimentary post-delivery adjustment within the first six months. Any changes needed after that point may incur a service fee, depending on the scope of the work.

From start to finish, the process is hands-on, collaborative, and built around your ride.
