Professional Bike Assembly — Built Right from Day One

Bought a bike online? Let The Jersey City Bicycle Co. assemble it correctly, safely, and professionally — so you can ride sooner and protect your investment.

Every bike assembly includes a Quick Tune, our multi-point safety and performance check that verifies:

  • Proper torque across all critical components

  • Accurate shifting and brake adjustment

  • Correct headset preload and bearing setup

  • Tire inflation to manufacturer specifications

  • Overall ride safety and function

We don’t just “put bikes together.” We calibrate them.

Your bike will be unpacked, assembled, adjusted to factory specs, and test-checked so it’s truly ready for the streets of Jersey City, Hoboken, and beyond — no skipped steps, no loose bolts, no guesswork.

Tune-Up FAQ

How do I know which tune-up I need?

If your bike feels off, noisy, or hasn’t been serviced in a while, a tune-up is the right place to start.

Not sure? Start with an ESSENTIAL TUNE. We will always contact you if any additional repair or parts are needed.

How long does a tune-up take?

Most tune-ups are completed within 5–7 business days, depending on the service selected and our current repair queue. If you have an upcoming ride, event, or commute, let us know at drop-off, and we'll do everything we can to meet your timeline. You'll receive an estimated pickup date during check-in, and we'll notify you as soon as your bike is ready.

What happens after I purchase my tune up?

Simply bring your bike to The Jersey City Bicycle Company 231 Pavonia Ave. Jersey City, NJ 07302 during our regular business hours.

At drop-off, you will be asked to provide your name and online order number—we'll take care of the rest.

Online tune-up bookings receive priority turnaround, meaning your bike is placed ahead of standard walk-in service whenever possible.

During check-in, we'll:

  • Confirm your online order.
  • Review any concerns or issues you'd like us to address.
  • Provide an estimated pickup date.
  • Contact you for approval before performing any additional repairs or installing parts not included with your tune-up.
  • Notify you as soon as your bike is ready for pickup.

Our goal is to make the process fast, transparent, and get you back on the road as quickly as possible.

What’s included in a tune-up?

Each tune-up includes adjustments, safety checks, and servicing based on the level you choose.

Full details are listed in the description for each package.

What if my bike needs additional parts?

We’ll inspect your bike first and contact you before doing anything extra.

No surprises — ever.

Do you work on all bikes?

We service most standard bicycles and many e-bikes. Our team works on road, hybrid, mountain, gravel, commuter, BMX, kids' bikes, and most mechanical components found on electric bikes.

Please note: We do not perform electrical diagnostics or repairs, including work on batteries, motors, wiring, controllers, displays, or other electronic systems.

If your bike has a unique setup or requires more extensive evaluation, we may recommend starting with a diagnostic inspection to determine the best course of action before any repairs are performed.

Why Is There a Fee for Outside Parts?

To protect our technicians' time and ensure every repair receives the attention it deserves, outside parts are subject to an additional handling and installation fee starting at $25 per item.

Whenever possible, we recommend purchasing parts directly through The Jersey City Bicycle Company. This allows us to guarantee compatibility, stand behind the products we install, and provide the fastest, most efficient service.

We'll always contact you for approval before performing any work that involves additional charges. If outside parts require an added handling or installation fee, you'll be informed of the cost upfront—no additional work will be completed without your authorization.

Do you guarantee your work?

At The Jersey City Bicycle Company, we stand behind the quality of our workmanship. If you believe something related to the service we performed isn't functioning as intended, please contact us as soon as possible.

As a courtesy, we offer complimentary minor adjustments within 72 hours of pickup for the original service performed. These adjustments are intended to address normal settling after service, including cable stretch, brake or derailleur fine-tuning, and bolt re-torque when related to the original repair.

This courtesy adjustment does not cover:

  • Flat tires or punctures
  • Additional repairs or replacement parts
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Crash, impact, misuse, neglect, or improper storage
  • Damage caused after the bicycle leaves our shop
  • Customer-supplied parts or accessories
  • Mechanical issues unrelated to the original service

Once your bicycle has been picked up, the original service order is considered complete. Any new concerns arising after pickup will be evaluated independently and may require additional labor, parts, or a diagnostic inspection. This does not affect your eligibility for our complimentary 72-hour adjustment period for the original work performed.
